About Us

A little about Dogwood Farms…

Our family owned and operated business sits in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the small community of Rising Fawn Georgia. For as long as I can remember, my mother was always outside gardening. She taught me a love for everything that grows and for the magic that herbs offer. This love grew into years of study, both on my own and through the Clayton School of Natural Healing. The results of these studies show in the aroma therapeutic choices for all our products. We have always been, and will continue to be dedicated to creating high quality, handmade herbal bath and body products that capture the fresh and natural healing properties found in Nature.

Our company's aim is to promote a way of traditional healing to help relax, pamper and rejuvenate your body. In this world of high technology, high speed living & computer ease, our products not only target specific needs while nourishing and healing different skin types, but are soothing to the mind and uplifting to the spirit as well. We strive to provide our customers with the best possible of herbal offerings. We have chosen to use only vegetable oils, no animal fats and no petroleum based products. To these we add only pure essential oils, never fragrance oils (please refer to the Aromatherapy section for further benefits of essential oils).

Our line started with our vegetable oil based soaps. We found that many of the soaps in stores today resemble detergents more then bath soaps. In most commercially produced soaps the naturally formed glycerin (during the process of saponification) is removed and chemicals like sodium laurel sulfate are put back in its place. It stands to reason that these chemicals would be harsher for your skin.

Our soaps, on the other hand, contain only vegetable oils, water and lye. Yes,

I said lye. Simply put, all soaps contain lye. Lye is what causes the oils and liquid to saponify or turn into soap when combined. The process of saponification causes the mixture to thicken. When this starts we add our essential oils and botanical s and then pour the mixture in a mold. Once hard it is cut into individual bars and left to dry on racks. As the bars cure the lye dissipates. At the end of the curing process, you are left with a bar of soap, moisture rich with naturally formed glycerin and completely free of harmful lye.

After our line of soaps we quickly moved on to expanding our product line to other areas of bath and body products. As friends and relatives brought problems and questions to our attention, we quickly went to work on finding natural ways to help your own body help to heal itself…and the ongoing product line of Dogwood Farms was born.

We want to thank you for your interest in the Dogwood Farms line of herbal bath and body products. We learn as much from your comments and questions as hopefully you do from us, so please feel free to contact us.
